Hair Design at The Crown is for clients ready to use hair as a canvas. This is not a standard color or cut menu — every piece is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between you and the stylist, designed around your vision, your features, and the look you want the world to see.
Because each Hair Design is custom, every appointment begins with a consultation. We discuss reference imagery, design and line placement, what’s achievable for your hair type and length, and maintenance expectations.

The Hair Design Process
Because every Hair Design piece is custom, here’s how a typical commission moves from idea to finished look.
- 1Consultation — In-person or virtual. Bring reference photos. We’ll talk shape, color, timeline, and price.
- 2Design Mapping — We map the design to your hair’s growth pattern and length, and confirm it will hold cleanly.
- 3Design Session — The appointment itself. Most designs are done in a single session; more elaborate work may take longer.
- 4Aftercare Plan — You leave with a custom product and maintenance plan to keep the work looking sharp until your next session.
Hair Design Pricing
Hair Design is fully bespoke. Pricing depends on the complexity of the design, hair length and density, and time in the chair. All quotes are confirmed at consultation, never on the day of service.
A non-refundable design deposit is required to reserve any Hair Design appointment. The deposit is applied directly to your service total. Quotes are based on hair length, density, and design complexity confirmed at consultation.
Hair Design FAQ
How long does a Hair Design appointment take?
It depends on the design. A simple line design or edge detail can be done in well under an hour, often added onto a haircut. More detailed or large-scale etched work takes longer. Your stylist will give you a realistic time estimate at consultation.
Does a hair design work with my haircut?
Most designs are carved into a fade, undercut, or the nape, so they pair naturally with a men’s or women’s haircut. If you’re booking design work on its own, bring a reference and we’ll confirm what works with your current length and shape.
How long does Hair Design last?
A shaved or etched design stays crisp for about 1 to 2 weeks, then softens as your hair grows. Most clients refresh it every 2 to 4 weeks — often alongside their regular haircut — to keep the lines sharp.
Can I bring my own reference photos?
Please do. Reference imagery is the fastest way to align on the look you want. Bring multiple references showing color, placement, and finish. We’ll talk through what’s achievable on your specific hair, what may need to be adapted, and what timeline and budget look like for the result you want.
